Renovation of a 1950s house
Située à proximité du Parc de la Woluwe, dans le quartier bruxellois du Chant d'Oiseau, cette maison des années 50 a fait l'objet d'une rénovation complète. Restée inchangée depuis sa construction, elle conservait tous ses éléments d'origine, offrant une véritable immersion dans une autre époque.
Le projet visait à décloisonner des espaces devenus étroits et sombres, afin de redonner de la générosité aux volumes et de favoriser l'apport de lumière naturelle et artificielle.
Une attention particulière a été portée à la mémoire du lieu, avec la préservation et la restauration de certains éléments emblématiques, comme la cage d'escalier d'origine en granito et sa main courante en acier laqué noir.
La cuisine, pensée comme le cœur de la maison, s'organise autour d'un îlot en marbre de Carrare et devient un espace central de vie. À l'étage, l'ancien grenier a été transformé en un studio lumineux et multifonctionnel.
Le choix de matériaux sobres et durables confère à l'ensemble une esthétique intemporelle, dans une logique de transmission et de continuité familiale.
Located near the Woluwe Park, in the Brussels district of Chant d'Oiseau, this 1950s house underwent a complete renovation. Unchanged since its construction, it had retained all its original features, offering a genuine immersion into another era.
The project aimed to open up spaces that had become cramped and dark, in order to restore generous volumes and maximize both natural and artificial light.
Particular attention was paid to the memory of the place, with the preservation and restoration of certain emblematic elements, such as the original granito staircase and its black lacquered steel handrail.
The kitchen, conceived as the heart of the house, is organized around a Carrara marble island and becomes a central living space. On the upper floor, the former attic has been transformed into a bright and multifunctional studio.
The choice of sober and durable materials gives the whole a timeless aesthetic, in the spirit of family transmission and continuity.
